Very nice and hard to find Gebirgsjäger dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' in used, but very good condition.

The tag shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 5.Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Regiment 99. This regiment was formed in October 1935 and was part of the 1.Gebirgs-Division. The regiment took part in the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and later in the invasion of France and Yugoslavia. In June 1941 it saw combat in Russia for nearly 2 years and after that in Serbia and Greece.
