The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 5.Schwere Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Bataillon 137. This unit was formed in August 1939. It trained and supplied soldiers for units within the 2.Gebirgs-Division. This division operated in Norway and fought in Narvik and Kirkenes. It spend most of the war in Norway, Lappland and Denmark.
The 'A' on the back on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
