Very nice aluinium Wehrmacht Bau related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 4.Kompanie Bau Bataillon 102. This unit was formed in late August 1939. It was put in action during the invasion of Poland as part of the 8.Armee. In May 1940 it operated in France. After the defeat of the Low Countries it stayed in France and Belgium.
In October 1940 it became a transport unit and was renamed into Nachschub Bataillon 102. From 1941 onwards it operated in mid-Russia and at the end of the war operated in the Danzig area.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
