Very nice Luftwaffe dogtag in good condition that belonged to a soldier that served in 3.Kompanie Flieger Ausbildungs Bataillon 26. This regiment was formed in April 1937 in Neu-Kladow as Flieger Ausbildungs Abteilung 26. In 1938 it moved to Heiligenhafen.
In 1939 the abteilung was renamed in Flieger Ausbildungs Bataillon 26. And in Januari 1942 the bataillon was used to form I.Ausbildungs-Bataillon Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment 26. So between 1939 and 1942 the owner of this tag joined the unit. Somewhere in early 1942 the regiment was moved to Alkmaar, the Netherlands. In August is was renamed into Flieger Regiment 26 and in October it was moved to Aalborg, Denmark. Here parts of the Regiment where used to form Luftwaffen-Jager-Regiment 27 and became parts of Luftwaffen-Feld-Division 14. In November 1943 the unit became part of the Wehrmacht Heer and named Jäger-Regiment 27 (L). It stayed in Norway until the end of the war. 
The remaining soldiers of regiment 26 where used to form Luftwaffen-Jäger-Regiment 39 in March 1943 and became part of Luftwaffen-Feld-Division 20. It was stationed in Aalborg, Denmark. In November 1943 the regiment became part of the Wehrmacht Heer and was named Jäger-Regiment 39 (L). In May 1944 the division and her units where moved to Italy and in June the division became part of the 20. Luftwaffen-Sturm-Division and fought in Italy. In November 1944 the division was disbanned and remnants were subdivided within the 26.Panzer-Division.
