Both documents shows overall normal signs of wear. Folded in the middle. The Infanterie Assault Badge in silver was awarded on 11.September 1942. Josef served in the 2.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 158. This regiment was formed in December 1939 and the whole regiment was equipped with captured Czech equipment/weapons. The regiment fell under the 82.Infanterie-Division and was first put into action in June 1940 in France. In August it was pulled from the front and was given leave. In Februari 1941 it was moved to the Netherlands and in June 1942 it was moved to Russia to the Belgorod and the Kursk area. It fought fiercely in the Woronesh area and lost a lot of soldiers. During this period Josef earned his Sturmabzeichen.  
After that it fought in areas like Kiew and Tscherkassy as part of the 4th and 1st Panzer Armee.
With the award document comes an extra document that reads that Josef was awarded the Sturmabzeichen whilst he was laying in a Reserve-Lazarett.
