The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 2.Verfügungskompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 412. This unit was formed in September 1939 and trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 412. This regiment was part of the 227.Infanterie-Division. This division participated in the invasion of Holland, Belgium and France. Later it fought on the eastern front.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
