Very nice and harder to find variant of a Landesschützen related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served/was drafted in the 2.Stammkompanie Landesschützen Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 9. This bataillon was formed in late February 1940 as Landesschützen Ersatz Bataillon 9 in Kassel. In April 1943 the bataillon became Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 9. It trained and supplied soldiers for different Landesschützen Regiments, Bataillons, Sicherungs Regiments, Stalags and Kriegsgefangene Bau und Arbeits Bataillone.
A Stammkompanie was a unit that trained the soldiers. Often the soldiers of this kompanie were soldiers who had frontline experience and/or where no longer fully usable on the front due to injuries. Of course this changed later in the war and they also where put into action as there was a shortage of (front)soldiers.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stand for the soldier's bloodtype.
What makes this tag a bit more special is that is was stamped embossed. Which is not often seen.
