Nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 2.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 45. This regiment goes back to the Reichswehr period as was first known as Infanterie Regiment Marienburg. In October 1935 the regiment was renamed into Infanterie Regiment 45. It was part of the 21.Infanterie-Division. With this division the regiment saw combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After that it moved to the west and participated in the invasion of France. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Tilsit, Ladoga, Volkhow and in the last stages of the war in Ostpreußen.
The 'A' on the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
