The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It's broken but complete. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 10.Kompanie (III.Bataillon) Armee Nachrichten Regiment 558. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 in Stuttgart and part of the 7.Armee. The 8-10 companies within this regiment were so-called 'Blankdraht-Kompanien' or Bare Wire companies. These companies were in charge of the communication lines.
In February 1940 the III.Bataillon was used to form Armee Nachrichten Regiment 501.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
