Nice and hard to find Wach-Bataillon related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.Kompanie Wach-Bataillon Wien. This unit was formed in 1938/1939 and was stationed in Laxenburg near Vienna, Austria. It was subordinate to the Wehrmacht commander Vienna. In October 1940 the bataillon was subordinate to the Divisionstab z.b.V.417 and became a Landesschützen unit. It had the task of guarding the Reich Governor's Office and the Heeresgruppenkommando 5/Wien. Further information about the unit is unknown.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
