Nice and hard to encounter Kampfgeschwader 53 related erkennungsmarke in worn, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.Flughafen Betriebs Kompanie I.Gruppe Kampfgeschwader 53 'Legion Condor'. This unit was formed in April 1937 as Kampfgeschwader 355, which is also visible on the tag and became Kampfgeschwader 53 'Legion Condor' on the 1st of May 1939.
The I.Gruppe flew the Heinkel He111 bomber. It was put into action during the invasion of Poland, France, Russia and France again.
A Betriebs-Kompanie is a unit that repairs and services the planes.
The 'T' on both parts of the tag stands for 'Tetanus'.
