Very nice Wehrmacht Artillerie related dog tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.batterie Artillerie Regiment 33. This regiment was formed in October 1936 in Darmstadt and was part of the 33.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of Belgium and France. In November 1940 the regiment became motorized and the first Abteilung (1-3.batterie) was used to form the II.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 86 which was part of the 112.Infanterie-Division. This division and her units saw combat on the Russian front the entire war.
The III.Abteilung of Artillerie Regiment 33 was used to form the new I.Abteilung of the regiment and was still part of the same division however it was now called the 15.Panzer-Division. It saw combat in Afrika and was destroyed in Mai 1943 in Tunesia.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
