The card shows signs normal of wear. He was an Unteroffizier that served in the Reserve Infanterie Regiment Nr.215. This regiment was part of the 46.Reserve-Division and saw its first combat during the Battle of the Yser. After that it fought during the Battle of Bixschoote, Belgium. Here, on the 30th of October 1914 Joseph was wounded. He recovered and in May 1915 he served in Infanterie Regiment Nr.150. With this regiment he saw combat on the eastern front. He participated in fight for the Narew crossing on the Suraz-Ugowo-Baciuty-Waniewo line where he was heavily wounded on the 16th of August 1915 and died of his wounds on the 19th. (noticeable thing is that the card says 1916, but this should be 1915). Joseph is burried on the war cemetery in Mazowiekie.
