The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Werkstatt Kompanie 34 which was part of the Divisioneinheiten der 34.Infanterie-Division.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
A Werkstatt or Workshop companies were used for the repair of motor vehicles, weapons and other army equipment.
