The tunic has a nice 'been there' patina. It has some small (most of them surface) holes and some small period repairs. It's complete with all the buttons, the breast eagle and edelweiss (both of them, in our opinion period hand applied). It has 4 set of loops for medals on the left breast pocket and loops for the ribbon bar above the left breast pocket. The shoulder-straps are the rank of an 'Unteroffizier als Offiziersanwärter' or 'feldwebel' in training to become an officer.
On the inside, the pouch for the bandage packages is present as are all the buttons. It's size marked, maker and depot marked.

The grouping consist out;

    • Modell 40 Feldbluse (incl. Ribbonbar, VWA Black and 4 belt support hooks)
    • Erkennungsmarke with strap (matches the soldbuch)
    • Soldbuch (Worn condition, but complete and a lot of entries!)
    • Arbeitsbuch (filled in from 1935 - 1952!)
    • Photo of Heinz taking a break. His full combat gear lays in front of him
    • Ausweis für Fliegergeschädigte (Submitted by his wife)
    • Temporary Registration Card (printed on a map)
    • A lot of post war documents such as his Ausweiskarte, his Lohnsteuerkarte, his Arbeits-Meldekarte, etc.

Heinz served within the Gebirgjäger Regiment 98. This regiment was formed in October 1937 and was part of the 1.Gebirgs-Division. As part of this Division it saw combat during the invasion of Poland in 1939. It also participated in the invasion of France in 1940. After France it saw action in Yugoslavia, Serbia and Russia. In April 1943 it was put into action in Montenegro, Greece, Croatia and in 1945 in Hungary.
Interesting grouping of a Gebirgsjäger regiment with a rich history
