The erkennungsmarke shows overall normal signs of wear. Stalag.XI.B. was built in 1937 for the workers who build the barracks of the Truppenubungsplatz Bergen. The first prisoners were the Poles in 1939 followes by the Belgians and the French. In 1941 Russian POW's arrived in the camp. Other prisoners came from countries as the US, Holland, Italy, Canada, South Africa and many more.
After the war the British used the camp as a internment camp for Nazi Party members.
