The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Luftwaffe Sperrfeuer-Batterie 34. This unit was formed in 1940 and was disbanned in 1942/43. Unfortunately there is not a lot of information on this unit.
Sperrfeuer Batteries where formed in the summer of 1940 due to the increasing allied bombing raid above Germany. These batterie where mainly equipped with French captured weapons/canons and their munitions. In the winter of 1942/43 these batteries where disbanned due to lack of munitions of these captured guns and the barrels where worn out.
