The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in Sanitäts Ersatz Abteilung 6. This unit was formed in late September 1939 in Bielefeld. In November 1939 the abteilung moved to the area of Riesenburg. It trained and supplied soldiers for different units.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
