The postcard shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. Ernst was a well respected World War 1 pilot with 62 confirming victories and became Luftwaffe Generalluftzeugmeister in February 1939. He was awarded the Ritterkreuz on the 4th of July 1940.
Ernst commited suicide on the 17th of November 1941 while on a plane with his girlfriend.
