The canteen shows overall normal signs of use. The dark brown leather straps are supple and not damaged whatsoever. Both the screw lid and felt cover are marked with 'EEF38' which indicates it was produced by Heine & Sohn from Vöhrenbach in 1938. Canteens like these where used by organisations like the Reichsarbeitsdienst.
