This large eagle was introduced in early 1934 and was developed/intended to be used on the visor caps or 'Schirmmütze' of NSDAP Political Leaders. It has a wingspan of approximately 48.36 mm, making it quite a bit larger than the 1st pattern eagle (1927) used by SA/SS personnel.
The eagle is nicely marked ‘RZM’ and maker marked ‘M1/17’ on the reverse, meaning it was made by ‘F.W. Assmann & Söhne’ from ‘Lüdenscheid’.
Excellent example and very hard to find!
