These little tank models were produced and used by the German army on there sand tables or 'Sandkasten'. These 'sandkasten' were used both for mapping the tactical distribution of different units on the battlefield and for tactical instructions to young recruits.

Only a handfull of these little panzers survived the war. The length (including barrel) is approx. 8,5cm. The panzer is made from Ceramic and the barrel of wood. The model Is made by the manufacturer 'Goebel', hence it's logo on the bottom.

It's also marked 'KW-1' on the bottom. During the Second Wold War, the German army captured a large number of Heavy 'Soviet KV-1s' tanks, which were repaired, sometimes upgraded and serviced in the Wehrmacht. They were renamed to 'Pz.Kpfw KW-1' or 'Panzerkampfwagen KW-1'.

An excellent, scarce and sought-after display piece.
