The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within Pionier Park Kompanie 521. This unit was formed in August 1939 as part of Armeepaket O (Ostpreußen). In early 1942 the kompanie was used to form Pionier Park Bataillon 521 which became part of the 9.Armee under the command of Heeresgruppe Mitte. At the end of the war it became part of Heeresgruppe Nord and was put into action in Ostpreußen.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
