Very nice Wehrmacht Pionier related commemorative Beer Stein in excellent condition.
The condition is of the stein is excellent. Its complete with lid and clear of damage and/of cracks. The lid is very nicely decorated with an early style single decal Wehrmacht helmet. The colorful and very detailed image depicts a pionier bridge. The stein was issued to Pionier Hans Fahnlberg who served in the 3.kompanie of the bataillon.
Pionier Bataillon Ingolstadt was formed in October 1934 and was part of the 10.Infanterie-Division. A year later, in October 1935, the bataillon became Pionier Bataillon 10 and was stationed in Regensburg. This division saw it's first combat during the invasion of Poland in in Mai 1940 during the invasion of France. It also fought on the eastern front in areas like Gomel, Moskau, Demsjansk and Orel. It was destroyed in the south of Ukraine in July 1944.
Awesome piece and not easy to find.
