Nice aluminium German dogtag of a soldier of the Panzer Abwehr Ersatz Kompanie 212.
The Erkennungsmarke shows overall normal signs of wear. Panzer Abwehr Ersatz Kompanie 212 was part of the 212.Infanterie-Division. The ersatz kompanie trained and supplied men for Panzerabwehr Abteilung 212. Formed in August 1939 and renamed Panzerjäger Abteilung 212 in April 1940. This unit saw its first combat action during the invasion of France. After France the division was sent on leave and was put into action again in October 1941 in Russia during the Leningrad battle. Later it saw action in areas like Wolchow, Pleskau and in Litauen where it got almost totally destroyed. Remains of the division where used to form the 212.Volks-Grenadier-Division. This division saw action during the Ardenne battle in late 1944 and early 1945.
The 'O' on both sides of the tag stands for the soldiers bloodtype.
