Very nice Wehrmacht Ortskommandantur related tag in used, but well preserved condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to an Ortskommandantur I/783 Kombattant. The Ortskommandantur was the local headquarters of the Wehrmacht. Ortskommandantur 783 was formed in late Juni 1940 and moved soon after to the Dutch city of Groningen.
A Kombattant is a civilian employee that worked at the hadquarters. The Ortskommandantur had as task to supervise the billeting of German soldiers and organise the requisitioning of movable and immovable property for the benefit of the Wehrmacht and other German institutions based in the city.
Hard to find tag.
