The document shows overall normal signs of storage wear. It shows military service information which was recorded in his Wehrstammbuch. Ernst served as a Kompaniechef 3.Kompanie Pionier Bataillon 158. This unit was part of the 58.Infanterie-division and fought on the eastern front.
The document shows in which region he fought in August 1944, that he was wounded in February 1945 and that he joined the Heeresschule fur Bataillon-Führer. Three of his awards are also mentioned;
- Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (17 Sept. 1944)
- Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold (2 April 1945)
- Nahkampfspange in Gold (7 April 1945). Awarded only 635 times!
Besides these awards he also earned the EK1 and EK2.
