This helmet has a lovely used battle worn patina. The shell still contains al lot of it's period applied two-tone camouflage. It comes with a very very! rare '1931' dated liner, which is original to the helmet. The liner is marked 'D.R.P' ('Deutsches Reichspatent') and maker marked by 'Schuberth-Werk K.-G.' from 'Braunschweig' . The liner shows some overall heavy wear but it’s solid and the leather is semi-supple (slightly stiff in some places). The linerband has undergone a minor repair at some point. The helmet has size '62' (liner size '55'). The chinstrap is also present and in in the same condition as the liner. The leather shows signs of wear/surface cracks, but is supple and still pretty solid. The tip is marked, but hard to read due to wear.

The helmet markings on the inside are not visible anymore, due to the applied camouflage.

The helmet is named to Kanonier 'Turtur' who had 'Feldpostnr. 10076B'. It is difficult to say when these markings were applied. The feldpostnr. tells that kanonier Turtur served within the 1.batterie schwere Stellungs-Werfer-Abteilung 103. This abteilung was formed in October 1943 and operated/was stationed on the western front. In early 1944 the abteilung was used to formed the III.Abteilung schwere Stellungs Werfer Abteilung 101 which operated in the area of Cherbourg and participated in the fighting against the Allied forces during the Normandy campaign. It was destroyed in June 1944. A part of this unit the Feldpostnummer now refers to the 7.batterie schwere Stellungs Werfer Abteilung 101.
