Harder to find Luftwaffe Sperrfeuer related tag in used condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It's broken in the middle. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Luftwaffe Sperrfeuer-Batterie 195. This unit was formed in 1941, was disbanned in the winter of 1942/43 and used to form the 2.batterie Flak Abteilung 216. This unit operated in Braunschweig, Hannover and then Braunschweig again.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Sperrfeuer Batteries where formed in the summer of 1940 due to the increasing allied bombing raid above Germany. These batterie where mainly equipped with French captured weapons/canons and their munitions. In the winter of 1942/43 these batteries where disbanned due to lack of munitions of these captured guns and the barrels where worn out.
