The strap shows normal signs of wear. Complete with all the hardware. The straps marked multiple times. Marked by the maker, LBA.36 marked which stands for Luftwaffe Bekleidungsamt 1936 and unit marked II.K.G.255 which stands for III.Gruppe Kampfgeschwader 255. This unit was formed in March 1937 and III.Gruppe was stationed in Memmingen. The Geschwader was mainly equipped with the Dornier Do 17m and the Heinkel He 111, but from 1940 also equipped with the Junkers Ju88. On the 10th om May 1940 the III.Gruppe came into action and had the mission to bomb the French city of Dijon, but was disoriented and missed their objective. Instead of droppnig bombs on Dijon they dropped them on the Germany ciry of Freiburg. The Geschwader continued supporting the ground forces during the invasion of France and later flew mission during the Battle of Britain. From April 1941 the Geschwader participated in the invasion of the Balkans and later that year came into action in the Greece battles. From June 1943 the Geschwader participated in the invasion of Russia and participated in a lot of (major) battles. The III.Gruppe was disbanned in late December 1943.
