The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a Reichsarbeitsdienst member who was drafted in a kompanie within the Luftwaffe Bau Bataillon 3/XIII during the '1.Welle' or 1st (mobilisation) wave that took place in the 1939/40.
In the year 1942 it operated in Russia and in 1943 in the area of Grischino which is in Ukraine. In the winter of 1943/44 the soldier were replaced by prisoners of war and the unit was renamed into Luftwaffe Bau Bataillon 103/XIII (K). The '(K)' stands for Kriegsgefangenen.
In the year 1944 it operated in Italy.
