Both documents shows overall normal signs of wear. The set consist out of a Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse document awarded on 16.Juli 1940 while Heinz was a Leutnant der Reserve in the Artillerie Regiment 27. This regiment was part of the 27.Infanterie-Division and saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in 1939. After the invasion the division moved back to secure the border in the Eifel area. It participated in the invasion of France and this is also where Heinz earned his EKII.
The second document is an Ostmedaille award document dated 14.08.1942. Her Heinz was an Oberleutnant and served in the 2.Batterie Leichte Beobachtungs Abteilung 13. This was a Schallmess-Batterie. In 1944 the abteilung was part of the 6.Armee in Hungary and in the last months of the war the abteilung was part of the 8.Armee in Slowakia.
