Nice zinc Luftwaffe Luftkriegsschule related tag in used condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It's stamped on both sides. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Kraftfahr Kompanie Luftkriegsschule Werder. This school was formed in april 1936. In Janurary 1940 it was renamad into Luftkriegsschule 3. The soldier of this tag served in a transport that was based/part of the school.
A Luftkriegsschule taught prospective pilots the theoretical knowledge in aeronautical science, engine science, materials science, fluid mechanics, meteorology, aerial geography, navigation, etc. At these schools the airfleet consisted out of a lot different (training) planes. And as the war continued they also trained with captured (allied) planes. The biggest difference between a Luftkriegsschule and Flugzeugführerschule A/B is that junior officers were trained at the L.K.S.
