Very nice Reichswehr, pre Gebirgsjager, Infanterie Regiment 19 related press photograph in excellent condition.
The photograph shows overall normal signs of wear. It's complete with caption on the back that reads,
'Alpine Summer training in the Snow
Parts of the Reichswehr Infantry Regiment No. 19 hold climbing exercises in the Bavarian high alpine region. The planned exercises are made extraordinarily difficult by the sudden arrival of heavy fresh snow. A few days ago, an avalanche even claimed three lives among the Reichswehr climbers. The picture shows the professional saddling of a telephone mule before the ascent of a high mountain patrol'.
The III.Bataillon of Infanterie Regiment Nr.19 became a Gebrigsjager Bataillon in the year 1931. In the fall of 1935 the I.Ausbildungs-Bataillon of Inf.Rgt.19 became the I.Bataillon Gebirgsjager Regiment 99 and the II.Ausbildungs-Bataillon of Inf.Rgt.19 became the II.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 100.
Note that the soldiers on the photograph all weat a Bergmutze and the early style reversible windjacke.
