Gr.Werfer Ausb.Kp.30 Erkennungsmarke

The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. Its complete but broken. The Greantwerfer kompanie was part of Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 30. In October 1942 an Ersatz and an Ausbildungs bataillon was formed. And a month later both bataillon where renamed in to Grenadier bataillons. Both motorized. In October 1944 were merged in to Grenadier Ersazt und Ausbildungs Bataillon (motorisiert) 30. In the beginning and het first half of the war it trained soldiers for the 30.Infanterie-Division. In September 1944 the bataillon was mobilized and send to the Netherlands and in Oktober it was used to for Grenadier Regiment 1225 which was part of the 190.Infanterie-Division. In 1944 it fought in Kleve,Reichswald and in 1945 in Venlo. It surrendered in the Ruhrkessel. 
A Grenatwerfer unit was equipped with a 5cm,8cm,10cm or 12cm mortar.
