The photograph shows overall no signs of wear. It shows two Gebirgsjagers digging out a snowshelter. There is a paper caption on the back that reads 'Stollen werden durch das Spaltensystem des Gletscherbruches vorgetrieben'.
The size of the photograph is 13cm *18cm. Stamped on the back 'Gebirgsjägerschule Lehrgruppe III Bildstelle'. At this school specialist skills in high mountain climbing, survival and combat were taught to a selecet number of Gebirgsjäger.
