The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The bataillon was formed in November 1940 and was under the command of Division 180. It was a motorized bataillon. It trained and supplied soldiers for Fla-Bataillon 52 which was a Heerestruppe. This unit saw action during the Westfeldzuges.
Fla Ersatz Batillon 52 became Flugabwehr Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 52 in April 1943. In September 1944 it was moved to the Netherlands and became part of the 180.Infanterie-Division. At that moment the bataillon had a strength of 515 men.
In 1944 and 1945 it fought in the Venlo area and Western Germany.
