The document shows overall signs of wear. It was framed once, hence the tape remnants on the back. The document says that Waffenunteroffizier Karl Meyer, who served in the I.Abteilung/Artillerie Regiment 55, was promoted to Waffenwachtmeister as of 1 December 1937. The I.Abteilung was formed in 1935 and was part of the 19.Infanterie-Division. It participated in the invasion of Poland and after that it was moved to the West. In March 1940 it was stationed on the German/Dutch border.
In late 1940 the I.Abteilung was used to form the II.Abteilung of Artillerie Regiment 117 which was part of the 111.Infanterie-Division.
