The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 6.Kompanie Grenzwacht Abschnitt 132. This unit was formed in late august 1939 in Wehrkreis XII and was also known as Grenzwacht Regiment 132. The 6.-8.Kompanie of the regiment was used in October 1940 to form Landesschutzen Bataillon 778. In the first half of 1941 the bataillon was part of Festungs Pionier Stäben 17 and in November 1941 the bataillon operated in Lithauania.
