The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 6.Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Bataillon 98. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 and trained and supplied soldiers for the 1.Gebirgs-Division.
The 'A' on the back of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
