The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. Infanterie Ausbildungs Bataillon was formed in Oktober 1942 and was renamed into Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 78 in November. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 170.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
