Very nice Luftwaffe dogtag in good condition that belonged to a soldier that served in 3.Kompanie Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment 23. This regiment was formed in April 1939 in Kaufbeuren. In October 1941 it moved to Belfort, France. In August 1942 it was redesignated to Flieger Regiment 23. In october 1942 the regiment was stationed in Gorodok (Russia) and was mainly occipied with anti-partisan duties alongs the Vitebsk-Nevel railway line. In April 1943 the regiment was stationed in the Brjansk area and mainly operated around Seschtschinskaja.
Flieger Regiment 23 was disbanned in July 1943 and the remains where used to form the Luftwaffen-Feld-Division 20 in Denmark. In November of that year it was taken over by the Heer and became also known as 20.Feld-Division (L). In June 1944 the division was used to form the 20.Luftwaffen-Sturm-Division in Italy. In Italy it fought some hard battles in the areas like Livorno and Adria. By the end of November 1944 the division was disbanned and the remaining troops where divided among other units. The 'A' on the back stands for the blood type of the soldier.
