Nice worn dog tag in good condition from a soldier who served in the 3.batterie Nebel Abteilung 2.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The abteilung was formed in October 1935 in Bremen with 2 batteries. It was equipped with the 10cm Nebelwerfer 35.
In December 1937 a 3rd batterie was formed. In September 1939 it was put into action during the invasion of Poland as part of the XIX.Armeekorps. In October 1939 the abteilung returned to Bremen and a little later it was renamed into Nebelwerfer Abteilung 2.
At the beginning of the 'Westfeldzug' the abteilung was part of Panzergruppe von Kleist and participated in the invasion of France. After France it saw combat on the eastern front.
This tag is published in the book 'Deutsche Erkennungsmarken' by Jean Höidal (page 96).
