Very nice aluminium Gebirgsjäger Regiment 137 related dogtag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 3.Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Regiment 137. This regiment was formed in August 1938 and the I.Bataillon (1-3.kompanie) was stationed in Salzburg, Austria.
The regiment was part of the 2.Gebirgs-Division and saw it's first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. In the spring of 1940 the regiment was put into action in Norway (Narvik, Kirkeness) and was most of the war active in Lappland.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Very nice tag of an Gebirgsjäger Regiment with a rich history.
