Details

The overall condition of the schirmmütze is good. It has a lovely shape. The fabric on the outside is in very good condition (no mothing!). It comes with the chin strap, the Wehrmacht eagle and the visor cap edelweiss. The leather sweatband is completely present and in used condition. It has some damage on the front side (see the photos), but is still solid. The lining is marked 'Deutsche Wertarbeit' on the inside and unit marked '3.Kompanie/Gebirgs-Nachrichten-Abteilung 54' on the back of the leather sweatband.
This abteilung was formed with 3 companies in October 1937 in Standort Oberammergau Hotzendorf-Gebirgsjägerkaserne. The 3.Kompanie was a Gebirgsfunk Kompanie (t(eils).mot). It was part of the 1.Gebirgs-Division. With this division it was put into action during the invasion of Poland and later France, Jugoslawien, Slowakia, Russia, Greece, Serbia, Hungary and the Alps.
The size of the schirmmütze is approx. 55/56.
