Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 2.Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 44. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 44 which was part of the 11.Infanterie-Division. This division participated in the invasion of Belgium and France, stayed on the French coast until it moved to the east in March 1941 to prepare for the invasion of Russia that took place in June 1941. It operated mainly in the areas of Wolchow, Leningrad and Pleskau.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldiers' bloodtype.
