Very nice inox (edelstahl) Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke shows overall signs of wear. The number '210631' tell us the soldier served in the 14.Kompanie III.Bataillon Fallschimjäger Ersatz und Ausbildung Regiment 3. This regiment was formed in the summer of 1944 in France. The 3rd bataillon, also known as Bataillon SAUTTER, fought in Kampfraum Toul-Nancy.
In January 1945 the bataillon regrouped with the other bataillons in the Netherlands and the 3rd bataillon was stationed in Zutphen. In April it fought some though battle and lost a lot of men in the area of Warnsfeld. In the last weeks of the war surviving men of the bataillon and from other regiments where used to form Fallschirmjäger Regiment 17. They where stationed in Kampfraum Amersfoort (Woudenberg-Leusden). They surrendered to the Canadians.
Interesting piece!
