Very nice Wehrmacht infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 13.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 116. This regiment was formed in October 1936 and was part of the 9.Infanterie-Division. It saw it's first combat during the invasion of Luxembourg, Belgium and then France.
In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Shitomir, Kiev, Donez, Isjum and Caucasus. After it was destroyed in August 1944 it was rebuild again in Denmark and renamed into the 9.Volks-Grenadier-Divison. Infanterie Regiment 116 was also destroyed and rebuild again in Denmark.
The new division and her units saw combat during the Ardennes-Offensive.
The 'AB' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
