The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The regiment was formed in Februari 1944 in Northern France (Dieppe) from Grenadier Regiment 1022. It was part of the 84.Infanterie-Division. At the end of July 1944 it was put into action in the Normandy Campaign and was destroyed in the Falaise Pocket. The division was formed again in August 1944 in the area of Kleve (Germany) and was shortly after put into action during Operation Marked Garden and after that in Venlo. In October 1944 it was integrated in the Luftwaffen-Festungs-Bataillon XVII and was destroyed in the Wesel Bridgehead in March 1945.
