Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 11.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 82. This regiment was formed October 1936 and was part of the 19.Infanterie-Division. This division saw it's first action during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After Poland it moved to the West and participated in the invasion of the Low Countries (Belgium) and then France.
In October 1940 the III.Bataillon (9.-14.Kompanie) was used to form Infanterie Regiment 431 and a new III.Bataillon was formed straight after.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype. The tag comes with its original neckcord.
